ANSI/SVIA 1 -2007 Section 4.1.1(Service Brakes)
Functional: Front brakes must be operated by a lever on the right side of handle and operable without removing hand from handlebarANSI/SVIA 1 -2007 Section 4.1.2 (Service Brakes)
Functional: Operated by either a foot pedal near right footrest (right foot) or if no clutch lever,by a lever on the left handlebar and operable without removing hand from handlebarANSI/SVIA 1 -2007 Section 4.1.3( Service Brakes)
Functional Test: Front and rear can be operated simultaneous by pedal - right footrest/right foot or by a lever on the left handlebar and operable without removing hand from handlebarANSI/SVIA 1 -2007 Section 4.2( Parking Brakes)
Functional: All Mountain Bikes must have a parking brake *Mechanism will be tseted according to section 8ANSI/SVIA 1- 2007 Section 4.4 /4.4.1 / 4.4.2 (Engine Stop)
Functional: Must have stop switch mounted on left handlebar and operable by thumb and must not require the operator to hold in the off position to stop the engine , must be red or orangeANSI/SVIA 1- 2007 Section 4.5 (Manual Clutch)
Funtional: If manual clutch , it must have a clutch lever located on left side of handlebar and operable without removing hand from handlebarANSI/SVIA 1- 2007 Section 4.6 (Additional Clutch Control)
Funtional: If Mountain Bike has power take off (PTO) or device for fixing engine speed , it shall have a clutch control for the PTO located convenient to the operator . Clutch direction of movement requirementsANSI/SVIA 1- 2007 Section 4.7 / 4.7.2.1 - 4.7.2.4 (Throttle Control)
Functional: Must have throttle control located on right side of the handlebar operable without removing hand from handlebar . Various options possible for the configuration of throttle . Mountain Bike must have means of stopping engine when operator dismounts. Functional: If automatic, neutral indicator must be readily visible to the operator. The neutral indicator shall be activated whenever the ignition system is on and the transmission is in neutralANSI/SVIA 1 - 2007 Section4.10 (Reverse lndicator)

Functional: If the Mountain Bike has a manual fuel shutoff control ,it must meet 49CFR FMVSS 123 table 1 : Rotate to operate "On" and "Off" are saparated by 90° of rotation. "Off" and "Reserve" (if provided) are separated by 90° of rotation. Sequence order : On - Off -ReserveANSI/SVIA 1- 2007 Section4.15(Handlebars)
Functional: The handlebars and its mounting shall present no ridged materials with an edge radius of less than 3.2 mm(0.125in) that may be contacted by a probe 165mm (6.5in) diameter sphere. The prode shall be introduced to the handlebar mounting area. It shall not be possible to touch any part of any edge that has a radius of less than 3.2mm (0.125in) with any part of the probe. TEST: Apply a load of 445N (1001bf) to the probe described in specification in a vertical and downward position into region between the foot bar or peg and the rear fender. Functional: Must meet one of US Dept of Agriculture or Forest Service Standard for Spark Arrestors for Internal Combustion Engines 5100 -1 Sept 1997. Manf. Of spark arresters get Gov. approval.

Functional: All Mountain Bikes must be equipped with off-highway AT designated tires which follow the load and presssure guidelines of Tire and Rim manufacturer association.Review marking requirements for tires. All Mountain Bikes must have a tires pressure gauge and a means of carrying it.ANSI/SVIA 1 - 2007 Section 4.20 (Security)
Functional: All Mountain Bikes must have a means of being locked up, key operated or equivalent system with a minimum of 300 exclusive lock combinations except Y Mountain BikesANSI/SVIA 1 - 2007 Section 4.21 (Owners Manual and Owners Manuals Review)

TEST: Uses the same test surface as section 5.0 and Mountain Bike conditions . Test must be completed with an air temperature between 32 and 100F.
